A new Italian restaurant in Punta Mujeres

Fortunately we are not short of restaurants ‘up North’ and I am always happy to recommend favorites and whats good and not so….

Last week I took the grandchildren to a newly opened Italian in the next village; a short journey by car. It was really lovely and very authentic.

Restaurants over here change their opening hours on a whim which can be frustrating but a quick check on Google or a phone call is a good idea. Another good point was its opening times.

The kids loved their meals but last night regular clients went down for supper and were very impressed. They opted for the more social dishes which means longer wait as they were freshly cooked.

They were very impressed and the meal was good value for money.

Worth a try?

The sad loss of the Little beach bar in Arrieta

In their wisdom Haria town hall have decided to dismantle and close down this little happy place. Many of you will remember the fun we had watching the kids safely playing on the beach while enjoying tapas and a cold beer.
Apparently a licence issue and the promise of a re build….I wonder?
It was bad enough when they decided to close the easy access to the beach car park and bung in a hardly ever uses basket ball pitch! Of course large concrete posts were erected to stop vehicles parking. Absolute madness unfortunately many daft decisions are made over here with little consultation.

Morning coffee? No problem lovely walk down to the sea.

If you fancy a walk and at the same time add to your step count 15 minutes down the road is the beach restaurant open from 10am to 10pm every day. I took this photo this morning and what a fabulous morning it was. Really we have been so lucky to be experiencing warm sunny days and temperatures around 25 degrees throughout November. It was too hot for me to sit outside at 10.15 this morning.

One point worthy of note PLEASE if you wish to hire a car do so as soon as you book your holiday there is an acute shortage of cars for hire over here. Car hire companies lease their cars and during the Covid problem returned them as obviously they could not afford to pay for cars that were not rented out. Please do not rely on picking up one up at the airport.

I am pretty well booked up this year but would love to welcome you in 2022. Contact me at [email protected]. I would love to welcome you.

Your Big shop

A very sort drive but within walking distance is a very comprehensive supermarket. As you can see in the photo there is also an ATM machine. Fresh bread, fruit wine etc is available in fact the only thing you cant get in Arrieta is fresh meat and fish; these are available in the larger supermarkets Lidl, Eurospar and Mercadona. The petrol station is always open so if you are stuck you will never go hungry. If you need anything specific please ask we will help if we possibly can.

Looking for something different ladies?

Just before lock down a lovely Spanish couple who live in Tabayesco opened a shop on the high street in Arrieta. It really is worth a look. A few of my close friends and myself have found lovely tops and dresses and there is also fab selection of jewelry and hand bags. Even better the prices are really fair and I have some 10% discount vouches; that I have popped into the casita. My grandsons love the ankle bracelets

Its open from 10am to 7pm every day….enjoy

.

Tabayesco village walkable from your casita.

We always leave a decent drink and a few goodies as I appreciate its a long journey you have undertaken to reach us. As soon as you have your bearings a shop is a must. There are two options either the garage which it at the bottom of the road and stocks almost everything including the kitchen sink! They also have a VAST wine selection ( always good to know) There is also a fresh baked bread section.

The other is our local super market in the village with an ATM outside and post box. They offer a good selection of everything but no fresh meat or fish; good fruit and vegetables.

A walk along the road from the supermarket you will quickly find the vast range of coffee shops and restaurants. Amanecer perhaps the most popular for fresh fish.

Tabayesco is the name of a new shop just opened, great selection of very reasonable casual clothes and jewelry.

As you see lots to see and enjoy but the village retains its rural Spanish atmosphere which we love

You wont want for wine!!
Always a great option for those who love fresh fish

How lovely it is to see happy tourists again at Arrieta Beach bar

The beach restaurant an easy walk from the casita
The beach bar leading straight onto the beach; fabulous reasonable tapas, a great day out with toilets close bye

Buzy Buzy Buzy

At last the island has gone green, we are delighted to have been welcoming new clients from all over Europe and have had some great reviews. Hopefully very soon we will be seeing our regulars from the UK again I am sure you will quickly see many improvements not only in the casita but also Arrieta.

One word of warning please get your cars booked early for some reason there is a shortage on the island. So many visitors have decided to get out and about rather than sticking to the beaches. I am happy to do this for you of course through Martinas Autos.

Yes the pier is completed!! Only taken 3 years!

Hope to see you soon

So looking forward to welcoming you back

Hello again, at last the island is welcoming back tourists and they are making the most of the warm sunshine and blue skies. Covid has been an absolute pain but I can promise you Lanzarote is really safe and the restrictions have been carefully planned for your safety. The beauty of having your own private acomadation is that we guarantee its is carefully cleaned and sanitized for your arrival.

Lots of exciting things going on in Arrieta but worry not your favourites are still her and looking forward to welcoming you. To name a few; fresh bread in the garage supermarket, a fab new gift and dress shop, a new coffee and cake snack bar and a newly upgraded Arrieta high street.

We so look forward to welcoming clients old and new.

An update.

Having just spent a morning weeding I thought I would just let you know how we are getting on. The island at the moment is absolutely stunning due to rain earlier this month but no one is here to enjoy it.

To keep everyone safe we are wearing masks at all times when leaving the house and are not allowed to mix with other households. Fortunately we do not have snow rain and storms to contend with so we consider ourselves very lucky.

No one seems to know when the tourists will return; many are suffering due to the closure of restaurants and bars. Hopefully when flights resume things will improve.

Meanwhile I send positive thoughts to you all and hope to welcome you back to Casita Amanecer and ‘Our Rock’ in the very near furture.
