Casita Amanacer, small by name big on character
Just back from 11 days in Lanzarote, the first week spent in a ‘luxury’ villa in Nazaret (with abnormal cold, strong gales) and then moved north for our last 4 days….and the warmer weather! The traditionally built Casita Amanacer nestles into the Tabayesco hillside above Arrieta just below the main house, and is situated amongst mature well kept gardens featuring an impressive display of local plants and trees. Boasting Tardis – like qualities, entering through the double-level patios, there is more than enough space for a couple of adults to feel at home, with everything you could possibly need close at hand. Fully equipped kitchen, Lounge, wet-room / w.c. area, and a large bedroom await, completed by an adjacent utility room …………….and not forgetting the amazing early morning view from the huge bedroom window. Every part of the property was clean and well- maintained, and there are full TV facilities if needed……..but who goes on holiday to watch TV? The owner was never intrusive and always around if needed (which we didn’t at any time!) and despite only a short stay, we enjoyed this property as much as the rented villa. In the surrounding area, there are a couple of well stocked supermarkets providing virtually anything you would require, however don’t expect a buzzing social scene after 9pm in the evenings – or even before…………….Arrietta’s just not like that! Local Restaurants appear to have strange opening hours, but if you can work these out, then there’s some excellent local fayre to be enjoyed, delivered by friendly staff. Lunchtime tapas in the beach restaurant, or a full meal in the evening – we found the quality on offer very acceptable. If you prefer, there are full BBQ facilities as well on one of the casita terraces, however, our early year timings meant it was a bit chilly in the evenings to sit out! Out and around, there are the standard tourist attractions (caves and cacti) however this part of the island is less commercial than the south, and offers some quiet beaches to explore, walks to take, or even a trip over to the island of La Graciosa (our favourite Canary island) to get away from it all. In conclusion – great property, great location………we will return! Thanks Jan!
